You are invited to commemorate the centenaryIn the early years of the 20th century, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá—the eldest Son of Bahá’u’lláh—was the Bahá’í Faith’s leading exponent, renowned as a champion of social justice and an ambassador for international peace. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s extraordinary qualities of character, His knowledge and His service to humanity offered a vivid demonstration of Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings in action, and brought great prestige to the rapidly expanding community throughout the world. Throughout His life, He presented with brilliant simplicity, to high and low alike, Bahá’u’lláh’s prescription for the spiritual and social renewal of society. November 27, 2021 marks the 100th anniversary since ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s passing.

A Writing by 'Abdu'l-Bahá about PeaceWhen a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love.

Special Commemoration at Silence SoundsThe Centenary Task Force invites each and every one of you to reflect on how you would like to get involved in this four day event at the end of November (25 - 28). The venue, Silence Sounds, is rented for four days, and will be transformed into a welcoming space including visual displays relating to 'Abdu'l-Bahá's life and legacy, a listening centre where we can listen to prerecorded stories and writings, the offering of tea and simple refreshments, and an area where videos/ movies can be shown. This space will serve as a backdrop for the 2 larger events:
In addition, the space will be open for all of us to visit and spend time during the afternoons, as well as Saturday evening, inviting contacts and friends to join. Individuals and groups are encouraged to host core activities they are currently involved in, or to use this space in other ways, for example offering arts or music, or preparing acts of service to the wider community. A few examples are: being the host and serving tea/ answering questions at the venue for a few hours, or telling your favourite stories about 'Abdu'l-Bahá to a small group of people, or using the space for a card making workshop, creating beautiful pieces that can be given away. The possibilities are endless! Let us all be inspired by the personage of 'Abdu'l-Bahá and by the way He lived his life. |
Let's ask ourselves how it would have been to visit with Him, and how we could bring this sentiment to the citizens of Guelph? What can each of us do, within our unique setting and circumstance, to contribute to this momentous occasion? Can we model the rich, diverse and unified community life we have been called to establish?
